Maree recently returned from a holiday in Thailand, and shares with us here her personal itinerary, experience and top holiday tips here…

It was time to return to Thailand so we decided to fly into Phuket with Singapore Airlines, two-hour transit in Singapore, seamless as always.  Upon arriving in Phuket, we had a 90-minute transfer North to the beaches of Kho Lak where we spent two nights at ‘Outrigger Resort Kho Lak’. Located on a gorgeous peaceful coastline, we caught up on rest and started our love affair with massages on the beach, and of course Thai food.

After Kho Lak were picked up by ‘Elephant Hills’ for a transfer of 90 minutes to their Luxury Tented Jungle Camps.  We chose the 3 day /2 night Jungle & Lake Camp adventure. Our first night included kayaking through the jungle, and then spending time and feeding the elephants. The next day we were whisked away to spend the night at the unique Lake Camp on Cheow Larn Lake - one of the world’s few floating luxury tented camps! The locations, accommodation, staff and meals were outstanding. It was a fabulous way to experience the Thai jungle.

At the end of our adventure, Elephant Hills then seamlessly transferred us to the coast for the ferry over to Kho Samui and transfer to our hotel, the Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort, and our pool villa room.  The resort was beautiful, spacious rooms, with a private beach and did I mention great food! This resort had the famous Birdcage Bar, made famous from the White Lotus TV series

Koh Samui was a true delight plus it was the low season so not very busy with plenty of restaurant choices. We explored Chang Mai and Lomani beaches, and spent a day on a speedboat out to Ang Thong Marine Park.

The weather at this time of year (July) is very hot with high humidity but very little rain. I highly recommend travelling Thailand at this time of year due to the fact there are fewer crowds and still great sunshine - the ocean or your villa pool quickly becomes your best friend at the end of a day out.
